Other things.. today

I wrote a book, I gave away several copies here and there. The truth is, I gave away more copies than I sold. People are cheap .. I was hoping my self published book would actually sell. The hope of giving away copies to people, they would maybe tell there friends about it. More people are interested in reading it if it is free. I didnt write my book to be given away for free. I invested over ten thousand dollars and thousand of hours of time into it. People want it for free. I guess in a way thats ok because the book has been picked up and is going to be out soon.

Dear Neighbor ( with the loud fireworks)

Dear Neighbor : Could you please take your fireworks and stick them up your fourth point of contact ? At the very least would you quit firing off the fireworks that sound like loud explosions. Some of us are combat veterans and were exposed to the explosions and they exacerbate certain conditions. Please, because I could not sleep at all last night. I understand your sorry ass firing off fireworks on the 4th of July. I anticipate it and can plan for it. Not on a typical night during the week. antibiotics cant cure stupidity

If they ( antibiotics) we would live in a pretty smart society. Sadly this is not the case. In fact, I think in some ways these one touted medical miracles called antibiotics have increased the rate of stupidity. Two groups of people come to mind, Smokers and people with STDs.

People come into the clinic for STDs all the time, the same people. Some men pick up women in bars, prostitutes or other places. Then they get the signs and symptoms.. The discharge from the genitalia and the painfull urination.  I find out that they have multiple partners and have unprotected relations with each of them. One time a man came in only wanted to be treated for his condition and refused to be tested for anything. One of these days, those pills and antibiotics will stop working because the bacteria will resist so more drastic measure, more powerfull antibiotics and much higher doses . Of course some members of society are going to sue the medical providers like myself untill society realizes we can no longer be stupid. http://www.armycombatmedic.com/

The paratrooper medic

I used to jump out of perfectly good airplanes. It was alot of fun. I enjoyed the adrenaline rush. The idea that a peice of metal and other material can be built into a plane that can be used for soldier to fall out of still mesmerizes me. Essentially, a paratrooper falls out of the plane and when the parachute opens, its slows down the fall. By units mission, I was supposed to be one of the last soldiers to jump out of the plane. I would then be able to round up the wounded and stablized anyone else who was injured during the jump.

The mission would require me to go out on patrol with the guys or what ever mission we had after.
Hop and pops were some of the funnest jumps I made. We would go fly out in our full combat gear, make the jump into the drop zone and then put on another parachute and jump some more. I think the most I made in one day was three jumps.

I never jumped into a hot drop zone into combat. I did jump into a drop zone one time where our unit ended up conducting some real world operations, but it does not count as a combat jump.  I talk about my jumping experiences in my book: My Journey as a Combat Medic: From Desert Storm to Operation Enduring Freedom. http://www.armycombatmedic.com/
